Golden Globes 2025: Who Wore It Best and Who Didn’t
If you tuned in—or, like me, woke up this morning ready to judge the fashion choices of Hollywood’s finest. You know the 82nd Golden Globe Awards brought the drama, glitz, and questionable style decisions. The prestigious ceremony celebrated excellence in film and television production, and, of course, gave us a lot to talk about.
This year’s show was hosted by the ever-sassy Nikki Glaser, making history as the first solo female host. With her signature roast-style humor, no celebrity was safe, but let’s be real: some of the fashion, well… deserved it.
Let’s break down the standout looks of the night: the good, the bad, and the what were they thinking?
Zendaya: A Disney Princess Grown Up
Let’s start with Zendaya, the undeniable belle of the ball. Style by none other than Law Roach. She graced the red carpet in a custom Louis Vuitton copper gown that screamed, “If Belle from Beauty and the Beast became a high-fashion icon.” Adorned with Bvlgari jewels and what appeared to be a suspiciously engagement-like ring, she served class and glamour. Five out of five stars—because why even have a scale if Zendaya isn’t the standard?
Miley Cyrus: The Return of Prom Night
Miley Cyrus showed up in a slinky black Celine dress with sparkly silver trim, which almost worked. Miley gave body, but it also gave “Prom Queen 2024.” There’s no doubt Miley can rock anything, but this look felt like it missed the mark for such a prestigious event. Two out of five stars—try again, Miley.
Selena Gomez: Dripping in Diamonds
Selena Gomez was another one of my favorites. She looked radiant in a custom Prada gown, dripping in Tiffany & Co. jewels, including the breathtaking Céleste shooting star necklace with an 18-carat emerald-cut diamond pendant. She was elegance personified, earning a solid five out of five stars. Selena understood the assignment.
Ariana Grande: Belle?
Ariana Grande attempted to channel vintage vibes in a pale yellow archival Givenchy gown with long white gloves and Swarovski jewels. Her signature high ponytail added a touch of Ariana-ness, but the gown washed her out, and the overall look felt like a cross between Jackie O and a Beauty and the Beast cosplay. I’m giving her a three out of five—points for effort, but the execution fell flat.
Demi Moore: Ageless but Not Timeless
Demi Moore, looking hotter at 62 than most of us ever will, stepped out in an Armani Privé gown with impeccable structure and a subtle jeweled streak on the bodice. While the dress was stunning, it dragged a little too long, and a bold red lip would’ve tied the look together beautifully. Four out of five stars—Demi is this close to perfection.
Salma Hayek: Fashion Overload
Salma Hayek brought 300 carats of Colombian emeralds courtesy of Lorraine Schwartz was everything, but unfortunately, her overall look felt like an afterthought. Lovely individual pieces, but together? A chaotic mashup. Two out of five stars—Salma, you deserve better.
Jeremy Strong: J.J Realness
Jeremy Strong, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for The Apprentice, showed up in what can only be described as a fashion misfire. A white turtleneck under a mint green velvet suit? It was serving 1970s J.J. Evans, Good Times realness—except not in a good way. Zero out of five stars, Jeremy. Please have a word with your stylist.
Glen Powell: Dry Cleaner Debacle
Glen Powell serving face and that is all. He looked like he missed his trip to the dry cleaners. His suit fit, sure, but it didn’t slay. It felt uninspired, like a last-minute backup option. And possibly borrowed a piece or two. For that, I’ll give him two out of five stars. Next time, let’s aim for fashionably prepared.
The 82nd Golden Globes red carpet gave us plenty to love, laugh at, and side-eye. While some stars nailed the assignment, others left us wondering if they even read the syllabus. But hey, that’s the beauty of awards season—sometimes the misses are just as entertaining as the hits.
Until next year’s red carpet chaos, keep your fashion bold, your critiques sharper!
