Last night’s 67th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles was packed with red carpet moments that ranged from daring to downright confusing. From headgear, sparkles, birthday suits, and some serious Glam-pire aesthetics. Let’s dive into the deep end of what was hot and what was… not.
Beyoncé: Bow Down to Baroque
Designer: Schiaparelli
Texture & Embellishments: Gold encrusted gown with baroque-inspired embroidery, filigree motifs, and pearl embellishments, paired with matching gloves.
Beyoncé, the most decorated Grammy artist of all time, added to her accolades, winning Best R&B Album and Best Country Album, making her the first Black woman in 50 years to win in that category. While she skipped the red carpet, she reigned supreme in a custom Schiaparelli masterpiece by Daniel Roseberry. A designer who has made bombshell looks his signature. A modern Rococo dream, this gold encrusted gown shimmered in paisley embroidery and opulence embodying dramatic culture craftsmanship that Roseberry is known for. With his eye for silhouettes and historical influences. Roseberry continues to prove. That Schiaparelli is in its golden era.
✨ Final Score: 10/10 – Beyoncé remains undefeated, and so does Daniel Roseberry.
Bianca Censori: Birthday Suit, Literally.
Designer: Kanye's Creative Vision ???
Texture & Embellishments: Sheer nude fabric, and… that is all.
Where do we begin? Kanye West and his wife Bianca Censori left just after walking the red carpet, contrary to the rumors. Bianca ditched her beautiful black fur coat for a barely-there sheer nude dress that left, well, nothing to the imagination.
We’ve seen Bianca’s commitment to minimalism with her heavily controversial husband. You may remember the 2009 MTV VMA's when Kanye stole Taylor Swift's moment? If you know, you know. But this art installation-gone-wrong just felt predictable and not fashion at all.
🚨 Final Score: 0/10 – Bianca, blink twice if this is a performance art piece.
Sabrina Carpenter: Disney Princess but Make It Grammy-Worthy
Designer: Oscar de la Renta
Texture & Embellishments: Satin mermaid silhouette, ostrich feather trim, and a sparkling Chopard necklace.
Easily in my top 3 of the night, Sabrina Carpenter floated onto the carpet like an icy blue dream in an Oscar de la Renta gown. The marabou-trimmed hemline and Chopard necklace (which doubled as a halter!) were chef’s kiss.
Her performance looks were Just as good. Continuing the icy blue trend. She also picked up Best Pop Vocal Album while rocking a gold strapless sweetheart dress, proving she did not come to play.
❄️ Final Score: 10/10 – Icy Queen
Amun Star, Jaden Smith & Lady Gaga: Eternal Glam-Pires
Designer: Amun Star – Robert Wun | Jaden Smith – Custom Art Piece | Lady Gaga – Alexander McQueen
Texture & Embellishments: Blood-red sculptural gown, gothic castle headpiece, and a black Victorian-inspired look.
If this were the Met Gala and the theme was “Eternal Glam-Pire”, they would have nailed the assignment. Amun Star’s vein-like red corset gown, Jaden’s literal castle headdress, and Gaga’s gothic black McQueen ensemble were all about drama and wearable art.
Do I love these? Not really. But I respect the commitment.
🦇 Final Score: 5/10 – If Dracula had a Met Gala invite.
Taylor Swift: Giving +1 Energy, Not Main Character
Designer: Vivienne Westwood
Texture & Embellishments: Sparkling red fabric, asymmetrical neckline, and a dangling Lorraine Schwartz “T” charm.
Taylor showed up looking lovely, but let’s be real, this Vivienne Westwood gown felt like a plus-one dress rather than a headliner moment. The “T” charm on her thigh was a cute personal touch, but for one of the biggest pop stars in the world, I expected more.
❤️ Final Score: 6/10 – Nice, but where’s the impact?
Janelle Monáe: Boss Moves in an Oversized Suit
Designer: Versace
Texture & Embellishments: Navy structured suit, gold hardware, and a matching military-inspired hat.
Janelle Monáe always brings the drama, and this oversized navy Versace suit was a blend of masculine and feminine energy. The gold lock & chain accessories elevated the look, making it equal parts edgy and sophisticated.
👔 Final Score: 8/10 – Commanding the red carpet like a boss.
Shaboozey: Western-Inspired Menswear with a Twist
Designer: Dior Men
Texture & Embellishments: Western Inspired Menswear Twist
For men, it can be challenging to stand out on the carpet without looking crazy. Shaboozey pulled off a Western-meets-haute-couture moment in a metallic gray Dior leather suit jacket. The fabric is a modern twist on the glen plaid pattern, traditionally seen in woven wool, tweed and flannel. But the extended fringe detailing was a bit awkward for me. If the draping had been adjusted, this could have been an instant hit. Something was a little out of place but still cool.
🤠 Final Score: 7/10 – A few styling tweaks, and this would’ve been a hit.
Kendrick Lamar: Denim King with a Trophy Haul
Designer: Balenciaga
Kendrick Lamar: Denim King with a Trophy Haul
Kendrick cleaned up with five Grammys last night while his denim-on-denim Balenciaga super laid-back look. If you’ve seen Elie Saab’s SS25 couture, full denim gowns graced the Paris runways. Proving denim can be haute couture, but this was more street wear luxe than red carpet couture. Denim-on-denim might not scream red carpet, but for Kendrick Lamar, it felt effortlessly cool. Not high fashion, but pure authentic.
👖 Final Score: 6/10 – Classic Kendrick.
Alicia Keys: Gilded But Overwhelmed
Designer: Dolce & Gabbana
Texture & Embellishments: Black gown with gold filigree corset and oversized ornate statement ear cages with pearl and gold filigree detailing
Alicia’s music? Flawless! Her Dolce & Gabbana red carpet look? Not so much. The gold corset was stunning, but paired with a massive ear cages and heavy embellishments, it overwhelmed her petite frame. A sleek ponytail might have helped streamline the look. But the ensemble certainly stands out. It stands out a lot.
💎 Final Score: 3/10 – Gilded excess gone wrong.
📝As with any red carpet, some killed it, some confused us, and some just straight-up should have watched the Grammys from the comfort of their homes like the rest of us. The Grammys are known for bold fashion, and this year did not disappoint in shock value.
Now tell me—who was your best and worst dressed of the night?
